Style Guide for Submissions
General Requirements
- Submissions should be typed in Times New Roman in 12 pt. size font.
- All submissions should be written according to the standards of the Chicago Manual of Style, 16th Edition.
- Please include a cover page (see below).
- All text should be double-spaced with no more than one space between the period and the start of the next sentence.
- Do not include the author's name or affiliation anywhere else in the paper.
- Include a 100-word abstract at the beginning of the article.
- Paragraphs should be indented, except when followed by a title or subtitle.
- Leave one-inch margins on all sides.
- Tables and images should be embedded in the article and original files should be submitted separately as soon as possible (see images section for specs).
- If available, please send an image for the full-bleed page opposite your article (specs below).
- Add a two-sentence biographical statement at the end of the article and before the references.
Cover Page
- This page should be blank except for the article’s title and author’s name at the top.
- Please do not include the author's name or affiliation anywhere else in the paper.
Text Citations
- References should be cited in the text using the author’s last name, year of publication, and page number when appropriate:
Rising speculative land prices made even property taxes unaffordable, compelling the indigenous poor to sell their land to the middle-class and moved to far-flung areas least served with basic infrastructure (Peril 1991).
- When a specific page, section, equation, or other division of the work is cited, it follows the date, preceded by a comma:
Some characterize Lagos as a “self-service city [where] little is expected from the municipal government” (Gandy 2004, 383).
Reference List
- Please list all bibliographic sources for the article on a separate page entitled “References.”
- Works should be listed alphabetically using the author-date system:

- Endnotes may be used in moderation. Endnotes should be listed at the end of the article, before the bibliography and be titled “Notes.“

Images
- All images, including tables, maps, and graphs, should be provided in .tif format and must be a high resolution of at least 300 dpi at print size.
Full bleed images should be 300 dpi at 7" x 8.5".
- Images should be embedded at their appropriate location in the article at low resolution and original, high-resolution files should be submitted separately.
- Images should include a caption and credit.
- Authors are responsible for obtaining copyright permission.
