Dear Prospective Applicant:

The Department of Urban Planning in UCLA's School of Public Affairs provides an action-oriented field of study, bringing professional knowledge, insight, and experience to bear on questions of urban planning, public policy, and social change. Our students specialize in several areas: community development and housing; regional and international development; design and development, transportation policy planning; and environmental analysis and policy. The Department is committed to interdisciplinary study and is flexible to adapt requirements to student interests and needs.

The Department has one of the top planning programs in the world. Our faculty combines experience in professional practice with notable accomplishments in research. We also invite outstanding practitioners and visitors to enrich the teaching and other activities in the school. These include people working in the areas of economic development, non-profit housing, community development, physical and cultural planning, real estate, international development, and other topics of special interest.

Thank you for your interest in UCLA's Department of Urban Planning. I encourage you to visit the school, or to contact us with any questions you might have.
