The Latino Social Security (LSS) project is a National Research Project funded by the Ford Foundation designed to inform members of the Latino community about Social Security and how various proposals to change the program will affect them.

To accomplish this, LSS will develop a number of educational products that can be accessed and used immediately by the Latino community to increase their understanding of Social Security as well as the impact of various proposed changes.

In addition, LSS will reach out and work collaboratively with national and regional Latino organizations, the Spanish speaking media and community leaders to provide information about the complexity and the intricacies of Social Security.

The overall goal of this project is to give the Latino community the tools to understand and determine for themselves how Social Security impacts their aging and retirement and the factual knowledge base to participate in the ongoing policy debates.

Leading Institute for the LSS project is the UCLA Center for Policy Research on Aging.
