Bum Jung Kim
Bum Jung Kim is a doctoral student in the department of Social Welfare, a division of the School of Public Affairs at UCLA. At UCLA, he serves as the Associate Director at the Center for Policy Research on Aging and as the Project Director for the Ford Foundation’s Latino Social Security Project. He is the Administrative Assistant for the Korean Flagship Program. He was born in Seoul, South Korea. Before coming to the United States in 2003, he worked at the National Health Insurance Agency under the Ministry of Welfare and Health as a health insurance reviewer. In addition, he served as an Assistant Planning Officer for a political party developing policies and services for the elderly with mental illnesses. During his MSW in the U.S., he interned at the Michigan Office of Services to the Aging primarily focusing on a dementia work group. His primary interests include long-term care, dementia care, and the effectiveness of the aging network. He received his BA in Social Welfare from Chung-Ang University in 2001 and his MSW from the University of Michigan in 2005.
