Posted on May 07, 2009

The Honorable Tom Campbell, economist, former U.S. Congressman and former dean of the Haas School of Business at the University of California at Berkeley, addressed issues of the national and California state economy during the 2009 UCLA Bollens-Ries-Hoffenberg Lecture on May 6, co-presented by the School of Public Affairs and the Department of Political Science.

Campbell, a Chicago School economist who studied under Milton Friedman, gave an analysis of the current economic recession from both a historic and policy perspective, referencing trends in economic crisis and recovery from the Great Depression and the New Deal era. The gubernatorial hopeful also presented his insights into the upcoming May 19 California ballot initiatives.
